SUMMARY:We Like Sharing @ OEGlobal
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the TU Delft annual We Like Sharing photo competition a bit of idea brainstorming happened in OEG Connect as a call for other individuals\, organizations to remix the idea and run their own version of it. Hence we are doing it here at OEGlobal. \nOur call for photos is: \nFor We Like Sharing @ OEGlobal we invite anyone to share a photograph that communicates a visual metaphor for the potential\, benefits\, characteristics of openly sharing. We seek especially photos from all parts of the world that convey something special about that place. \nIf you would like to participate\, Then\, upload the image and provide the basic information in our We Like Sharing form including title\, location\, how to credit yourself\, a description for web accessibility\, and the Creative Commons license you wish to apply to your photo. \nWe will add them to the We Like Sharing @ OEGlobal flickr album\, with all attribution\, licensing information included. There may or may not be prizes\, but we certainly will be reusing and attribution images in future OEGlobal communications. Sharing is its own reward\, right? \nAnd please follow the TU Deflt We Like Sharing which is already on the calendar for this year’s Open Education Week. \nAnd if you want to run your own WLS (We Like Sharing) from your place on the globe\, we have no rules per se\, but see suggestions in OEG Connect. \nOur call for photos will run the full month of March\, and we will track visits and comments in our flickr album– but we will actually likely just leave it open year round.  Because we like We Like Sharing! \n\nThe image used in this event s one by Bea de los Arcos from the original TUDelft We Like Sharing – Claddagh ring flickr photo by B. de los Arcos shared under a Creative Commons (BY) license.

SUMMARY:Enshittification: How the Internet Went Bad and How to Get it Back with Cory Doctorow
DESCRIPTION:The collapse of the internet into “five giant websites\, each filled with screenshots of text from the other four” wasn’t inevitable. From privacy to harassment to garden-variety ripoffs\, the internet’s degradation was the result of identifiable policy choices that can – and must – be reversed. Learn how they broke the internet – and how we can fix it. \nSpeaker\nCory Doctorow (craphound.com) is a science fiction author\, activist\, and journalist. His latest book is THE LOST CAUSE\, a solarpunk science fiction novel of hope amidst the climate emergency. His most recent nonfiction book is THE INTERNET CON: HOW TO SEIZE THE MEANS OF COMPUTATION\, a Big Tech disassembly manual. Last April\, he published RED TEAM BLUES\, a technothriller about finance crime. He is the author of the international young adult LITTLE BROTHER series. He is also the author of CHOKEPOINT CAPITALISM (with Rebecca Giblin)\, about creative labor markets and monopoly; HOW TO DESTROY SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM\, nonfiction about conspiracies and monopolies; and of RADICALIZED and WALKAWAY\, science fiction for adults\, a YA graphic novel called IN REAL LIFE; and other young adult novels like PIRATE CINEMA. His first picture book was POESY THE MONSTER SLAYER (Aug 2020). His next novel is THE BEZZLE (February 2024). \nHe maintains a daily blog at Pluralistic.net. He works for the Electronic Frontier Foundation\, is a MIT Media Lab Research Affiliate\, is a Visiting Professor of Computer Science at Open University\, a Visiting Professor of Practice at the University of North Carolina’s School of Library and Information Science and co-founded the UK Open Rights Group.
