SUMMARY:Liberating Curricula: Open Education for Decolonised and Internationalised Learning
DESCRIPTION:In an increasingly interconnected world educational practices and materials should evolve to be more inclusive and representative of diverse voices\, perspectives\, narratives and epistemologies. Through leveraging open educational resources\, open pedagogy\, and collaborative approaches to knowledge co-construction we can challenge hegemonic narratives and biases\, and create a more socially just and inclusive curriculum. This talk explores open educational practices as a transformative approach for curriculum internationalisation and decolonisation. \nRegister via Humantix \nPresenter: Dr Surita Jhangiani\, University of British Columbia\n \nAs Interim Associate Dean\, Equity\, Dr. Surita Jhangiani provides strategic leadership to advance the Faculty’s equity priorities\, fostering transformative teaching\, innovative learning and leading-edge research guided by the highest scholarship\, collaboration\, equity and inclusion standards. \nDr. Jhangiani is the David Lam Chair in Multicultural Education\, providing support to increase interest\, programming and engagement in multicultural and anti-racist education\, and to assist schools to foster critical multiculturalism. She has received two Open Educational Resource Champion awards from the University of British Columbia and was recognized as the Faculty of Education’s 2023 Universal Design for Learning Fellow.
