The Network for Lifelong Learning Digital Inclusions (NLL) Digital Toolkit and Conversation tool is for you. The purpose of the toolkit is to facilitate a conversation between citizens who are facing digital challenges and the professionals who meet them on an everyday basis.\n\nDigital inclusion encompasses the activities necessary to ensure equal access to and use of information and communication technologies for participation in social and economic life\, including for education\, social services\, health\, social and societal participation. The Nordic Network (NLL) works to bridge the digital divide and improve adults’ understanding of digital participation. By supporting effective solutions in adult education and making recommendations to decision-makers\, the network helps to ensure that the adult population in the Nordic region has better opportunities to use digital community services\, participate in lifelong learning\, become active and critical citizens and users of technology\, and be better able to cope with an increasingly digital working life. During the webinar you will be familiarized with both the Conversation Tool and the Digital Inclusion Toolkit. SUMMARY:Vectors of Trust: Practicing Reciprocal Values in Challenging Times
DESCRIPTION:In eduspaces we talk about values in nebulous terms. We believe in open\, we believe in barrier-free\, we believe in social justice\, we believe in student-focused pedagogies. But what are these values as praxis for those of us who support student-focused spaces? \nIn this keynote\, Dr. Ann Gagné will discuss how we are currently living through a crisis of trust in higher education\, institutionally\, governmentally\, societally\, and within our own communities. She will support reflection on how trust is a vector\, with both magnitude and direction that impacts the work we do and the work we want to do.  By highlighting broken reciprocal values and support systems\, this talk defines the moral injury seen in our eduspaces and gives participants the opportunity to leave with tangible next steps to promote trust as reciprocal and etymologically radical. \n  \nSpeaker Bio \nDr. Ann Gagné (she/her) is Senior Educational Developer\, Accessibility & Inclusion at Brock University and a sessional instructor at George Brown College. She has worked in higher education in Ontario at colleges and universities for 21 years. Her work focuses on the need for accessible pedagogies through holistic awareness of disabled learners\, faculty\, and staff lived experience to decrease barriers to inclusion in higher education. She has facilitated workshops and keynotes on accessible pedagogy\, accessible event design\, accessible social media practices\, and trauma-aware UDL.  In March 2023 she started her own podcast Accessagogy\, which talks about accessibility and pedagogy in short (under 15 minute) episodes. \nBC Open Education Librarians (BCOEL) is grateful for the support of BCcampus who has co-funded this event.

DESCRIPTION:“Women in Red” – a Wikipedia editathon celebrating the lives and contributions of all the inspiring women of Scotland (and around the world) missing from the world’s go-to site for information. \nWikipedia is the 8th most visited website in the world but lacks diversity in its editors and its articles. Only 20.02% of biographies on English Wikipedia\, the world’s go-to source of information\, are about women. Women are not a minority and we can #ChooseToChallenge the paucity of stories currently shared on the open web and #InspireInclusion. She holds a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from New York University and a doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota. DESCRIPTION:In this edition of the webinar series held jointly by the European Training Foundation (ETF)\, the International Council of Distance Education (ICDE) and the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training\, we will focus on the role of OER in improving access by reducing costs for students. \nAfter an introduction to OER\, the session will particularly highlight an impressive initiative by the Milwaukee Area Technical College in the USA. During COVID\, the college formed an Open Access Team that has been very successful in expanding low-cost and no-cost textbook options across the college. Furthermore\, Susanne Grimm of OERinfo Germany will present the relaunched OER World Map. This interactive map can be used to expand knowledge\, share information and experiences and it can help collect data on OER initiatives. Finally\, Torunn Gjelsvik will provide an update on ICDE’s new OER strategy and its Open Education Network.

SUMMARY:Liberating Curricula: Open Education for Decolonised and Internationalised Learning
DESCRIPTION:In an increasingly interconnected world educational practices and materials should evolve to be more inclusive and representative of diverse voices\, perspectives\, narratives and epistemologies. Through leveraging open educational resources\, open pedagogy\, and collaborative approaches to knowledge co-construction we can challenge hegemonic narratives and biases\, and create a more socially just and inclusive curriculum. This talk explores open educational practices as a transformative approach for curriculum internationalisation and decolonisation. \nRegister via Humantix \nPresenter: Dr Surita Jhangiani\, University of British Columbia\n \nAs Interim Associate Dean\, Equity\, Dr. Surita Jhangiani provides strategic leadership to advance the Faculty’s equity priorities\, fostering transformative teaching\, innovative learning and leading-edge research guided by the highest scholarship\, collaboration\, equity and inclusion standards. \nDr. Jhangiani is the David Lam Chair in Multicultural Education\, providing support to increase interest\, programming and engagement in multicultural and anti-racist education\, and to assist schools to foster critical multiculturalism. She has received two Open Educational Resource Champion awards from the University of British Columbia and was recognized as the Faculty of Education’s 2023 Universal Design for Learning Fellow. We offer students a springboard to a future as professional and global citizen in a society that is constantly changing. The region is our campus; our students learn at HAN and beyond. And we conduct practice-based research with\, for and at companies and organizations. Together with our partners\, students and staff\, we are making a difference and broadening our horizons. Together we are working towards a smart\, clean and social world of tomorrow! \nWhat are our goals on digital education?\nHAN is committed to providing educators and students with easy access to high-quality digital educational resources at realistic costs. We also develop digital learning materials ourselves and share them openly to contribute to the (inter)national supply. With this approach\, HAN stimulates\, facilitates\, and evaluates the realization of this vision. This will be done in 4 phases.
