SUMMARY:Check H5P accessibility and more - CARETAKER
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to introduce the H5P Caretaker\, a valuable tool designed to help you assess your H5P files for accessibility\, licensing\, and usability issues. This initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between Oliver Tacke and NDLA. \nPlease note that the H5P Caretaker is still in development\, and we welcome your feedback to help us improve the service. The initial version is fully operational and available for you to test during this web conference. \nAs adherence to accessibility standards becomes increasingly vital\, it’s essential that we equip ourselves with the right tools and resources to streamline this process. The H5P Caretaker aims to make your experience as seamless and up-to-date as possible. \nWe invite you to explore the H5P Caretaker with us! \nRead more about the technical implementation \nPresenters: \n\nJan Frode Lindsø\nOliver Tacke\nKnut Inge Skifjeld

SUMMARY:AI Literacies for Open Educators: An Exploration
DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming education\, bringing both opportunities and challenges for open educators. This interactive workshop\, hosted by Dr Doug Belshaw and Dr Angela Gunder\, explores a plurality of “AI Literacies” for understanding and applying AI within open education. \nDrawing from the recently-published paper– part of MIT’s AI and Open Education Initiative–  AI Literacies and the Advancement of Opened Culture: Global Perspectives and Practices\, the session will provide a structured introduction to AI literacies. The hosts will then guide participants through a discussion around the ethical\, technical\, and pedagogical implications for open educators using generative AI.  \nFinally\, participants will be encouraged to add any relevant openly-licensed resources to an open access repository. \nKey takeaways for participants: \n\nA practical understanding of AI literacies as they apply to open education.\nAn approach to help co-create definitions and frameworks relating to AI literacies in specific contexts.\nAccess to an open repository of AI and open education resources.

SUMMARY:In the Living Room with the Open Education Network and MIT OpenCourseWare – Two Highlighted Resources
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we talk about two open educational resources: 1) Data Analysis for Social Scientists offered by MIT OpenCourseWare and 2) Accessible Appalachia by Lisa Day and Jacob Johnson\, which can be found in the Open Education Network’s Open Textbook Library. \nWhile we will focus on just one resource each\, we will highlight how these publications are a reflection of the diversity of our collections. In order to share the work of our organizations and what that looks like\, we will take a brief tour of each resource\, including author profiles and/or instructor priorities. We will also meet people involved in their production\, and talk about how the materials evolved through the publication process. Our goals for the conversation are to celebrate and highlight two openly available resources and the people involved in creating and sharing them. Attendees will gain an introduction to the Open Education Network’s Open Textbook Library and to MIT OpenCourseWare’s course materials\, and have the opportunity to discuss open educational publications with others.  \nSpeakers: \n\nKaren Lauritsen\, Open Education Network – Senior Director\, Publishing \nBailey Lake\, Eastern Kentucky University – Assistant University Librarian\nShira Segal\, MIT OpenCourseWare – Collaborations and Engagement Manager\nCheryl Siegel\, MIT OpenCourseWare – Publication Manager and Social Media Coordinator

SUMMARY:Open Microbiology: Building Global Learning Communities Through the OpenStax Microbiology Ancillaries Project
DESCRIPTION:The OpenStax Microbiology Ancillaries (OSMA) Project is an innovative open education initiative that brings together educators\, researchers\, and students to develop high-quality\, openly licensed learning resources for microbiology. This project enhances accessibility\, fosters inclusivity\, and empowers both students and instructors with adaptable\, freely available educational materials in the ADAPT homework system and H5P/LibreTexts Studio. \nThis presentation will highlight the international collaboration at the heart of OSMA\, featuring insights from Ying Liu\, biology professor at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) and visiting scholar at the University of Dundee\, and her team of students in San Francisco and Dundee\, Scotland. Together\, we will explore how cross-border teamwork enriches resource development\, ensuring diverse perspectives and global relevance. \nStudents from both institutions will share their experiences as co-creators\, reflecting on the impact of open education on their learning\, professional growth\, and sense of community. Their voices will illuminate how participation in OER projects enhances scientific literacy\, collaboration skills\, and engagement with real-world microbiology applications. \nBy showcasing OSMA’s student-driven\, equity-focused approach\, this session will inspire educators and institutions to embrace open education and foster meaningful learning experiences through international partnerships.

SUMMARY:Systematic Information Management
DESCRIPTION:The Centre for Online Education & Learning (COEL)\, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU)\, Hyderabad\, is pleased to announce a free international webinar titled “Systematic Information Management.” This insightful session will be delivered by: \nDr. Dominique Scheffel-Dunand\, PhD – Directrice\, Cycles supérieurs en Études francophones\, Lead\, Camerise Formation & Recherche (FSL Hub\, York University)\, Professeure agrégée\, Études françaises\, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies\, York University\, Canada. \nWatch the Recording Here.\nRegister for free\nWebinar context:\nOpen Education thrives on collaboration\, shared knowledge\, and sustainable practices. Yet in an era marked by rapid digital transformation\, increasingly fragmented educational ecosystems\, and widening learner diversity\, Communities of Practice face a dual challenge: managing expanding volumes of open resources and translating them into actionable guidance that supports teachers’ evolving professional realities.\n\nThis session positions Systematic Information Management as a foundational strategy to operationalize pedagogical horizon scanning\, helping educators identify\, interpret\, and apply emerging practices\, research insights\, and open resources to design relevant\, inclusive learning experiences.\n\nOur webinar will highlight how structured curation\, shared taxonomies\, and open repositories can transform scattered signals (OER\, classroom innovations\, research findings\, policy shifts\, and community knowledge) into reusable learning assets—toolkits\, learning pathways\, micro-credentials\, and practice-oriented briefs—that inform\, train\, and upskill Communities of Practice. In contexts where professional learning days are often dedicated to policy messaging rather than sustained instructional adaptation\, embedding systematic information practices within open ecosystems enables communities to co-create knowledge\, strengthen OER sustainability\, and build inclusive\, cross-border professional learning networks that respond to diverse learners and real classroom needs.

SUMMARY:Open to All: Accessibility in the LibreVerse
DESCRIPTION:Open education only works if everyone can access it. That’s why LibreTexts is currently conducting a comprehensive accessibility audit of our platform and features\, with the results shaping both our updated conformance documentation and a clear roadmap to remove barriers for students and content authors alike. \nOur goal is to meet or exceed the Revised 508 Standards and WCAG 2.1 AA because accessibility isn’t a checkbox\, it’s a core part of what it means to build education that truly belongs to everyone. Accessibility conformance documentation is already available\, and we encourage anyone who encounters an accessibility concern to report it directly to us. We also provide a full suite of authoring tools to help content creators build with accessibility in mind from the start.

SUMMARY:ADAPT and AI: An Instructor's Success Story
DESCRIPTION:This session demonstrates practical ways to build and deploy homework in LibreTexts ADAPT using WeBWorK algorithmic problems. \nWeBWorK uses a complex Perl-based language called PG\, and writing questions in PG can be challenging. Most PG examples online focus on math\, physics\, and engineering. As a life science professor\, I want to bridge that gap by bringing algorithmic biology problems\, which are often more descriptive than numerical\, into LibreTexts ADAPT using WeBWorK. \nIn this session\, I will show new instructors how to use AI to turn a conceptual homework idea into a fully functional WeBWorK problem\, without needing to know how to code. The talk will demonstrate how large language model agents such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex can produce working WeBWorK problems when given solid documentation and required to check output using a local renderer. \nA brief course case study will show how a problem concept can become a working WeBWorK assignment through an iterative workflow.
