SUMMARY:WikiAfrica Hour's Offline Demos – MoodleBox and Kiwix – Offline OER
DESCRIPTION:How do we share free knowledge with people who have no stable internet? \nHow do you identify the right offline solution if you cannot see it in action first online? \nMany steps must be taken before offline solutions can benefit the people they are designed for\, some of which are quite tricky. In this OEWeek25 special\, following the January edition of WikiAfrica Hour: Offline Wikis ( https://bit.ly/WAH_Ep42_YT )\, we invite Offline Wiki experts to demonstrate their offline solution. We hope this will make one of the many steps towards offline—the decision phase—easier by showing what you should expect from this platform before you spend hours setting up the hardware\, sourcing to the right offline platform\, downloading it\, and then adding it to your hardware. \nIn the hot seat for this session is: \n✔️ Dan McGuire and Shadrach Ankrah\, members of Sopal\, who are going to discuss the combination of offline solutions MoodleBox and Kiwix \nJoin this #OEWeek conversation on Offline!

SUMMARY:Systematic Information Management
DESCRIPTION:The Centre for Online Education & Learning (COEL)\, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU)\, Hyderabad\, is pleased to announce a free international webinar titled “Systematic Information Management.” This insightful session will be delivered by: \nDr. Dominique Scheffel-Dunand\, PhD – Directrice\, Cycles supérieurs en Études francophones\, Lead\, Camerise Formation & Recherche (FSL Hub\, York University)\, Professeure agrégée\, Études françaises\, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies\, York University\, Canada. \nWatch the Recording Here.\nRegister for free\nWebinar context:\nOpen Education thrives on collaboration\, shared knowledge\, and sustainable practices. Yet in an era marked by rapid digital transformation\, increasingly fragmented educational ecosystems\, and widening learner diversity\, Communities of Practice face a dual challenge: managing expanding volumes of open resources and translating them into actionable guidance that supports teachers’ evolving professional realities.\n\nThis session positions Systematic Information Management as a foundational strategy to operationalize pedagogical horizon scanning\, helping educators identify\, interpret\, and apply emerging practices\, research insights\, and open resources to design relevant\, inclusive learning experiences.\n\nOur webinar will highlight how structured curation\, shared taxonomies\, and open repositories can transform scattered signals (OER\, classroom innovations\, research findings\, policy shifts\, and community knowledge) into reusable learning assets—toolkits\, learning pathways\, micro-credentials\, and practice-oriented briefs—that inform\, train\, and upskill Communities of Practice. In contexts where professional learning days are often dedicated to policy messaging rather than sustained instructional adaptation\, embedding systematic information practices within open ecosystems enables communities to co-create knowledge\, strengthen OER sustainability\, and build inclusive\, cross-border professional learning networks that respond to diverse learners and real classroom needs.

DESCRIPTION:The International Research Network for Innovative Sustainable and Seamless Education (IRN-ISSE) is a global research partnership that began at mLearn 2018 at Concordia University in Chicago. The vision of IRN-ISSE is to build an international community of practice\, inviting researchers and specialists to collaborate for the greater good\, with a specific focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” The mission of IRN-ISSE is to study\, support\, inform\, share\, and implement research globally to improve access to and quality of education worldwide. The goal is to stand together and learn with and from each other\, striving to remain at the forefront of innovative\, sustainable\, and seamless educational practice \nThe community has a global reach\, including Africa\, Asia\, Europe\, North America\, South America\, and India. The partnership is working on several initiatives\, such as: \n\nThe Seamless Learning Experience Design Model\, which identifies five themes relevant to designing a seamless learning experience: 1) seamless learning concepts\, 2) positive concepts\, 3) practical concepts\, 4) human concepts\, and 5) design concepts. Based on these five concepts\, a Seamless Learning Experience Design (SLED) framework was developed.\nResearch and ongoing work include the “Be the change to see the change” (this was the theme for interviews and larger podcasts) initiative\, and on-demand\, driven learning.\n\nWhat you can expect: \nDuring this webinar\, you will meet some of the partners in IRN-ISSE. You will hear about their research and ongoing initiatives. You will have the opportunity to discuss with the team and the audience the interesting changes in education\, including those brought about by the AI era.
