SUMMARY:Be the change you want to see: Applications of Seamless learning. Research projects from the International Research Network for Innovative Sustainable and Seamless Education (IRN-ISSE)
DESCRIPTION:The International Research Network for Innovative Sustainable and Seamless Education (IRN-ISSE) is a global research partnership that began at mLearn 2018 at Concordia University in Chicago. The vision of IRN-ISSE is to build an international community of practice\, inviting researchers and specialists to collaborate for the greater good\, with a specific focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” The mission of IRN-ISSE is to study\, support\, inform\, share\, and implement research globally to improve access to and quality of education worldwide. The goal is to stand together and learn with and from each other\, striving to remain at the forefront of innovative\, sustainable\, and seamless educational practice \nThe community has a global reach\, including Africa\, Asia\, Europe\, North America\, South America\, and India. The partnership is working on several initiatives\, such as: \n\nThe Seamless Learning Experience Design Model\, which identifies five themes relevant to designing a seamless learning experience: 1) seamless learning concepts\, 2) positive concepts\, 3) practical concepts\, 4) human concepts\, and 5) design concepts. Based on these five concepts\, a Seamless Learning Experience Design (SLED) framework was developed.\nResearch and ongoing work include the “Be the change to see the change” (this was the theme for interviews and larger podcasts) initiative\, and on-demand\, driven learning.\n\nWhat you can expect: \nDuring this webinar\, you will meet some of the partners in IRN-ISSE. You will hear about their research and ongoing initiatives. You will have the opportunity to discuss with the team and the audience the interesting changes in education\, including those brought about by the AI era. You will also learn how you can become involved in the IRN-ISSE partnership. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nHelga Hambrock. SUMMARY:Faculty OER Practitioner Thank You
DESCRIPTION:Scottsdale Community College’s OER Committee is sending an email to students enrolled in courses using OER and inviting them to fill out a brief form thanking their instructor for choosing to use OER in place of costly learning materials. \nThe students are asked to share what they do with the money they’d otherwise have spent on textbooks and also what they like most about having OER in their course. We then collect these responses and print up personalized thank-you placards that are placed on the faculty’s office door as a surprise for Open Education Week.

SUMMARY:ADAPT and AI: An Instructor's Success Story
DESCRIPTION:This session demonstrates practical ways to build and deploy homework in LibreTexts ADAPT using WeBWorK algorithmic problems. \nWeBWorK uses a complex Perl-based language called PG\, and writing questions in PG can be challenging. Most PG examples online focus on math\, physics\, and engineering. As a life science professor\, I want to bridge that gap by bringing algorithmic biology problems\, which are often more descriptive than numerical\, into LibreTexts ADAPT using WeBWorK. \nIn this session\, I will show new instructors how to use AI to turn a conceptual homework idea into a fully functional WeBWorK problem\, without needing to know how to code. The talk will demonstrate how large language model agents such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex can produce working WeBWorK problems when given solid documentation and required to check output using a local renderer. \nA brief course case study will show how a problem concept can become a working WeBWorK assignment through an iterative workflow.

SUMMARY:Concevoir l’engagement : scénarisation pédagogique et design émotionnel en environnement ouvert / Designing engagement: educational scripting and emotional design in an open environment
\nEnglish \nAs part of Open Education Week\, this workshop explores how to transform the online learning experience using an authoring tool integrated into Moodle\, designed as a true educational scripting assistant. Beyond simply creating interactive content\, this tool supports the structuring of learning paths\, reinforces pedagogical consistency\, and supports the design of more engaging and learner-centered open educational resources. The workshop will also address the issue of emotional interface design: how do ergonomics\, layout\, and visual choices influence learner engagement\, motivation\, and perseverance? How can we design digital environments that not only promote understanding\, but also engagement in Open Education? This reflection combines pedagogical innovation\, structured scripting\, and open educational practices to open up new perspectives in the design and dissemination of open digital resources.

SUMMARY:The Future is Now: LibreTexts and AI
DESCRIPTION:The intersection of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is still emerging\, but momentum is growing rapidly. An important step forward came last year with the launch of the AI Co-Author tool\, designed to support OER development and improve accessibility remediation. Building on this progress\, the LibreTexts development team has introduced a comprehensive AI Initiative to expand and deepen AI integration across the LibreVerse ecosystem. \nThis presentation reviews the current state of AI development within LibreVerse\, highlighting tools already underway and early implementation efforts. It outlines short-term goals focused on pilot programs\, platform integration\, and faculty support\, as well as a long-term vision for a scalable\, interoperable\, and equity-centered AI infrastructure that advances teaching and learning nationwide. \nPlanned innovations include context-aware AI tutors embedded in digital textbooks; automated generation and evaluation of formative homework; AI-supported writing and research tools; and AI-guided coding and data science assistance within Jupyter environments. By embedding adaptive tutoring and personalized learning support throughout LibreVerse\, the initiative aims to reduce equity gaps and broaden access to high-quality resources. Instructors will gain AI-assisted tools for content creation\, grading\, analytics\, and pedagogical insight\, supported by professional development. Grounded in LibreTexts’ OER framework\, the initiative emphasizes transparency\, interoperability\, and evidence-based evaluation to ensure responsible and effective AI integration in open education.

SUMMARY:Trent University OER Launch Party: OER? Oh! We Are!
DESCRIPTION:What happens when educators say yes to sharing?\nWhen students say yes to co-creating?\nWhen learning says yes to openness?  \nJoin us for the virtual launch of our new Open Education Resource; a project built on collaboration\, curiosity\, and the belief that learning is deepened when it’s shared.  \nThis won’t be a formal presentation. It’s a call and response experience. It’s an invitation to join a community.  \nWe’ll share the story behind the resource: why we built it\, what problems it hopes to solve\, and how it invites a response. You’ll hear short reflections from contributors\, see inside the resource itself\, and have space to respond: in the chat\, on the mic\, in ideas sparked for your own teaching and learning.  \nCome explore how this resource might liven your courses\, reduce barriers\, and open new pedagogical possibilities. Bring your curiosity. Bring a question. Bring a colleague or a classmate.  \nLet’s launch something and respond to what it becomes.  \nHosted by Terry Greene\, Senior eLearning Designer\, with collaborators Darcy Culp and Najah Wardat.  \nIf you have any questions\, please feel free to reach out to teachingcommons@trentu.ca \nUpdate\nOh! We Are! was definitely launched in this webinar and is available to all at https://ecampusontario.pressbooks.pub/openattrent

SUMMARY:WordPress in Education: What we teach when we teach WordPress (WPCampus)
DESCRIPTION:Across higher education\, WordPress is used as a publishing tool\, but when we engage with students\, it becomes part of the learning environment. We teach students to use the web to tell their stories. They create portfolios\, publish project sites\, and share digital humanities work. They build professional identities that travel with them beyond a single course or platform. \nAt the same time\, many student-facing initiatives that may utilize WordPress as a tool have a different shared language and vocabulary for what\, exactly\, we’re teaching: Is it web design\, digital writing\, technology literacy\, open pedagogy\, or informational literacy\, or all of the above? In practice\, it is often a mix\, and that makes it worth naming and learning from each other. \nThis online summit\, hosted by WPCampus\, the professional organization for WordPress in Higher Ed\, centers student-facing programs\, both long-standing and emerging. We’ll explore how educators and campus teams are teaching WordPress for authentic public work\, and how newer pathways like the WordPress Credits are reframing WordPress not just as a tool students use\, but an open source ecosystem that students can participate in and contribute to. \nWhy this matters now\n\nWordPress remains a highly used web platform on the open web\, which means “learning WordPress” often doubles as learning the web in a practical\, career relevant way.\nWhat participants will learn\nDefining outcomes: How campuses frame student WordPress initiatives and what they prioritize.\nTeaching models that scale: Mentorship\, peer learning\, and support structures that work across programs.\nPathways beyond the classroom: how student move from course-based projects to portfolios\, community contribution\, and career development.\nOpen source community engagement and sustainability: How student contributions feed into the larger WordPress ecosystem and help sustain open source projects.
