SUMMARY:From H5P to LMS: Boosting Active Learning and Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Participants in this Brock University workshop will learn a step-by-step process to boost student engagement through “low-stakes” interactive assessments by learning how to embed\, update\, and manage H5P content using freely available tools like Lumi. Leave the “technical headache” behind and take full creative control of your digital classroom by integrating H5P activities into your LMS. Note: This workshop is specifically designed for educators whose LMS does not have a built-in H5P integration. \nThis workshop will be lead by Vanja Stojanovic\, Learning Strategies Librarian at Brock Library.

SUMMARY:Doing Dangerous Work: The ASCCC IDEA Framework
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a focused conversation on the IDEA Framework with featured guest Tiffany Lanoix of the ASCCC Open Educational Resources Initiative (OERI)\, a statewide effort of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges. \nIn this session\, Tiffany will briefly unpack what IDEA (Inclusion\, Diversity\, Equity\, and Anti-racism) means in the context of educational resources and why the framework was created to support faculty-led review and revision of course materials. She’ll highlight why Open Educational Resources (OER) are especially powerful for this work\, since open licenses allow faculty to revise materials to better reflect their community contexts. We’ll touch on how this work can scale from individual course revisions to broader cultural change and what to expect from the upcoming IDEA assessment process launching in summer 2026. Whether you’re deeply involved in OER or simply curious about aligning your materials with your values and your students’ needs\, this session offers practical insight and an accessible entry point into IDEA-informed teaching and learning. \nRegister using the link below.

SUMMARY:ADAPT and AI: An Instructor's Success Story
DESCRIPTION:This session demonstrates practical ways to build and deploy homework in LibreTexts ADAPT using WeBWorK algorithmic problems. \nWeBWorK uses a complex Perl-based language called PG\, and writing questions in PG can be challenging. Most PG examples online focus on math\, physics\, and engineering. As a life science professor\, I want to bridge that gap by bringing algorithmic biology problems\, which are often more descriptive than numerical\, into LibreTexts ADAPT using WeBWorK. \nIn this session\, I will show new instructors how to use AI to turn a conceptual homework idea into a fully functional WeBWorK problem\, without needing to know how to code. The talk will demonstrate how large language model agents such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex can produce working WeBWorK problems when given solid documentation and required to check output using a local renderer. \nA brief course case study will show how a problem concept can become a working WeBWorK assignment through an iterative workflow.

SUMMARY:DEFA Cameroun: Digital Education For All - Les REL pour tous

SUMMARY:Concevoir l’engagement : scénarisation pédagogique et design émotionnel en environnement ouvert / Designing engagement: educational scripting and emotional design in an open environment
\nEnglish \nAs part of Open Education Week\, this workshop explores how to transform the online learning experience using an authoring tool integrated into Moodle\, designed as a true educational scripting assistant. Beyond simply creating interactive content\, this tool supports the structuring of learning paths\, reinforces pedagogical consistency\, and supports the design of more engaging and learner-centered open educational resources. The workshop will also address the issue of emotional interface design: how do ergonomics\, layout\, and visual choices influence learner engagement\, motivation\, and perseverance? How can we design digital environments that not only promote understanding\, but also engagement in Open Education? This reflection combines pedagogical innovation\, structured scripting\, and open educational practices to open up new perspectives in the design and dissemination of open digital resources.

SUMMARY:Getting Started with OER
DESCRIPTION:You’ve likely heard about OER and how it can save students money. But did you also know that OER can increase student engagement and retention? The 2022 Florida Student Survey found that 53% of the 13\,000 students they surveyed did not purchase a required textbook for a course due to its cost. Because of textbook costs\, forty-three percent of students in the survey took fewer courses\, and twenty-four percent of students surveyed reported dropping out of a course (Florida Virtual Campus 2022). \nThe New Mexico Open Educational Resources Consortium\, or the NMOER Consortium\, is holding three workshops this fall to help NM educators find free\, open\, high-quality resources to use in their classes. \nThis workshop will also cover the different ways educators can integrate these resources into their courses. All New Mexico educators\, students\, staff\, and administrators are invited to learn about how to get started with OER. \nPresented by Jennifer Jordan\, Principal Investigator\, NMOER; OER Librarian and Assistant Professor\, UNM
