DESCRIPTION:The 13th edition of the International Open Education & Science Practices Workshop is organized on Friday\, March 6\, 2026\, by The Politehnica University of Timișoara\, through the Digital and Distance Education Department\, together with European Universities Alliance E³UDRES² and Accelerate Future HEI\, with the support of IEEE Romania\, within the Open Education Week 2026\, supported by Open Education Global\, in room K1\, Conference Center of Politehnica University Timișoara. \nTheme:  \nUnder the theme “Digital and emerging technologies in education and science“\, the presentations will focus on how open science and open educational resources are applied in everyday life\, especially in the context of universities\, research projects\, and education in general. An emphasis will be placed on the response of educational and research systems to the challenges of emerging technologies of artificial intelligence\, virtual reality\, and blockchain. \nThe workshop aims to bring together international speakers\, preparing interactive sessions and discussions. It is addressed to teachers\, students\, as well as actors in the field of education and training\, IT trainers\, or human resources departments. \nParticipation is free\, and attendees can choose to attend in person at the UPT Conference Center or participate online. DESCRIPTION:The intersection of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is still emerging\, but momentum is growing rapidly. An important step forward came last year with the launch of the AI Co-Author tool\, designed to support OER development and improve accessibility remediation. Building on this progress\, the LibreTexts development team has introduced a comprehensive AI Initiative to expand and deepen AI integration across the LibreVerse ecosystem. \nThis presentation reviews the current state of AI development within LibreVerse\, highlighting tools already underway and early implementation efforts. It outlines short-term goals focused on pilot programs\, platform integration\, and faculty support\, as well as a long-term vision for a scalable\, interoperable\, and equity-centered AI infrastructure that advances teaching and learning nationwide. \nPlanned innovations include context-aware AI tutors embedded in digital textbooks; automated generation and evaluation of formative homework; AI-supported writing and research tools; and AI-guided coding and data science assistance within Jupyter environments. By embedding adaptive tutoring and personalized learning support throughout LibreVerse\, the initiative aims to reduce equity gaps and broaden access to high-quality resources. Instructors will gain AI-assisted tools for content creation\, grading\, analytics\, and pedagogical insight\, supported by professional development. Grounded in LibreTexts’ OER framework\, the initiative emphasizes transparency\, interoperability\, and evidence-based evaluation to ensure responsible and effective AI integration in open education.
