SUMMARY:OE Week Live! Special Session on AI Language Translation (of AI for Teachers)
DESCRIPTION:One of the key opportunities for open content (and fast moving developments) is the use of AI is for language translation– potentially of great value for increasing access. How is it faring in practice? Is it viable for enough of thew world’s languages? How does one manage / implement a language translation project? \nThis special session came organically from a discussion in OEG Connect. And ironically or perhaps appropriately\, the content it arose from is the new AI For Teachers open textbook by Colin de la Higuera and Jotsna Iyer made available initially in English\, French\, German\, Slovenian\, and Italian. \nWithin that discussion came word of interest from Sushumna Rao to translate this into Telugu leading to further email conversation between Colin and Sushumna\, all of which seemed appropriate for an open conversation like we do for the OE Week Live webcasts.
