Starting with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) open courseware founded in 2001, open education activities are spreading that make education "open" beyond the boundaries of schools and universities on the Internet. While the possibility and challenges of open education are shown by the rise of MOOC in recent years, universities have adopted open education resources into education in practice, publish educational information and improve the quality of education. Among them, Hokkaido University established Center for Open Education with the mission of OER development and utilization in 2014 and has promoted educational improvement by open education on campus and beyond.
In this forum, we will introduce the activities of the center over the past three years, with presentations by our faculty and staff. In the keynote, we invite Professor Shelley Shwu-Ching Young of Taiwan National Tsing Hua University to give lectures on e-Learning and MOOC in Taiwan and China. In addition, our faculty and staff members exhibit "education improvement market", introduce various services, demonstrate teaching materials, etc.
