Their Own Figures: Student Production of STEM Visuals for Co-created Digital Texts

← Back to list of events
We have spent the past 20 years helping students co-create their science course textbooks. When students help craft the text and render the illustrations, they learn what it means to produce knowledge. Even if they are not making a novel discovery, they are learning how STEM works. This is a basic tenet of disciplinary literacy, and is key to our instructional designs. In this 50-minute online workshop, you will receive OER and learn three different ways we help students build their own diagrams and figures. We design for upper secondary students, but the methods may be applied to undergraduate levels.
