ICDE OERAC Notes from the field

← Back to list of events

The UNESCO OER recommendation on implementation was adopted by all member countries in 2019. The recommendation builds on previous initiatives from 2002, and with this 2019 recommendation, it is now time to move from capacity building to action and implementation. To support this, five action areas have been defined and agreed upon:

  • Capacity building
  • Development of supportive policies
  • Effective, inclusive, and equitable access to high-quality OER
  • Promoting the creation of sustainability models for OER
  • Promoting and facilitating international collaboration

In addition, evaluation and monitoring are emphasized.

The ICDE OER Advocacy Committee is charged by the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) to advocate for the implementation of the Recommendation and for actions in support of the ICDE Strategy 2021-2024, and to serve on the Advocacy Campaign Task Force at OER.

The webinar will briefly present the ongoing implementation and actions of the OERAC Ambassadors specifically aimed at increasing community engagement in lifelong learning and open education for all to achieve the SDGs.
