In the context of the global Open Education Week, SURF is the leading party in the Netherlands to organize activities within this theme, including topics like open educational resources and communities. At the VU, we join OE Global and SURF in organizing activities on open education: On Wednesday 8 March, you can discover everything about open educational resources in general and – more specifically – about creating interactive (and open) textbooks!
Questions about open educational resources?
On Wednesday the 8th of March, the University Library organises a full day walk-in for lecturers to stop by with all kinds of questions, ideas, and remarks surrounding open educational resources. Do you want to share or store your knowledge clips, for example? Or have you developed learning materials together with colleagues that you want to make available more broadly? Throughout the day, there will be people in the VU Education lab (NU 1A-25) to help you get set up or simply spar with you.
Open textbooks
Specifically, are you interested in creating open textbooks, like this example, or an e-learning? Come to the session The possibilities of Wikiwijs and the first steps to making your own interactive textbook that will take place from 12:00 – 13:00h, again in the VU Education lab. Do we see you there? Of course, you are also more than welcome to stop by another time during the day to talk about open textbooks.
Open science
Open educational resources are a growing component of Open Science and Open Education. Creating, using, and sharing open educational materials, to stimulate exchange between lecturers, programmes, and universities, has a high priority, also at the VU.
