With a 12-year journey as a Wikimedian\, he actively shapes the community engagement experience for Wikimedians in the Wikimedia movement through participation and collaborative learning. Beyond his work at Wikimedia\, Sailesh has successfully influenced the Government of Odisha in India to share its resources openly using Creative Commons licenses. \n  \nImage attribution: The More We Share\, The More We Have (series 2/2) by Pietro Soldi\, CC BY-NC-SA

SUMMARY:Open Climate Data Recommendations and CC Licensing 101
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the end of Open Education Week 2024 with Creative Commons! In this webinar\, we invite you to learn more about our recently released Recommended Best Practices for Better Sharing of Climate Data and the CC licenses and tools that support best practices. Afterwards\, there will be time for interactive Q&A about open science\, open data\, and the CC licenses and legal tools. \nOur recommendations are a result of collaboration between Creative Commons\, government agencies\, and intergovernmental organizations including ECMWF\, NASA\, NOAA\, and the World Resources Institute. They mark a significant milestone in our ongoing effort to enhance the accessibility\, sharing\, and reuse of open climate data to address the climate crisis. Our goal is to share strategies that align with existing data sharing principles and pave the way for a more interconnected and accessible future for climate data. \nJoin a wider community of researchers and practitioners in the fields of open science\, open data\, and climate change\, and learn more about how we can address global challenges through better sharing of open knowledge and culture in the public interest.

SUMMARY:Tricky CC License Questions Call in Show (OEWeek Live)
DESCRIPTION:This is a special themed topic OEWeek Live for Open Education Week 2025 featuring a team of Creative Commons Experts\, facilitators of the Creative Commons Certificate program. \nYes choosing a license from the list is one thing\, but there are always complexities that arise in practice. We’ve asked our panel to come with a few “tricky” questions but we want to also give the audience a chance to pose theirs. As always\, we are not offering legal advice (we will here “IAmNotALawyer”) but a great opportunity to hear our guests describe their approach to answering CC questions. \nGuests confirmed so far include: \n\nShanna Hollich (Creative Commons)\nJonathan Poritz (Independent consultant\, and CC Certificate facilitator)\nJennifer Hughes (CC Certificate facilitator)\nJennifer Campbell (CC Certificate facilitator)\nSuzanne Wakim (CC Certificate facilitator)\n\nWatch live where we we invite tricky CC questions and comments from the audience sent through the chat. Or submit them ahead of time via the call-in web form https://forms.gle/MFK1b8Hm2bBGvc4B7 or watch the recording later: \n\nLearn More: \n\nOpen Education Week https://oeweek.oeglobal.org/\nCC Certificate Program\, https://certificates.creativecommons.org/ \nOE Week Live Schedule https://connect.oeglobal.org/t/oeweek-live-webcasts/7383\nCopyright First Responders Pacific Northwest https://copyrightfirstresponderspnw.org/\n\nFeatured Image: Composite image including Old TV – Time Tunnel – Cameron Highland flickr photo by liewcf shared under a Creative Commons (BY-SA) license with Open Education 2025 Week banner by  Mario Badilla at OEGlobal and shared under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
