SUMMARY:Open Textbook Review Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Explore open textbook solutions for your pedagogical needs by attending a free workshop facilitated by the Open Education Network. Higher education faculty in New Mexico are invited to a workshop where you will learn about open textbooks\, where to find them\, and the criteria that the OEN uses to evaluate the textbooks in their Open Textbook Library. \nParticipants who attend the workshop will be eligible to review an open textbook and receive a $200 stipend. These OEN workshops have resulted in a 45% adoption rate by participating faculty.

SUMMARY:In the Living Room with the Open Education Network and MIT OpenCourseWare – Two Highlighted Resources
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we talk about two open educational resources: 1) Data Analysis for Social Scientists offered by MIT OpenCourseWare and 2) Accessible Appalachia by Lisa Day and Jacob Johnson\, which can be found in the Open Education Network’s Open Textbook Library.  \nWhile we will focus on just one resource each\, we will highlight how these publications are a reflection of the diversity of our collections. In order to share the work of our organizations and what that looks like\, we will take a brief tour of each resource\, including author profiles and/or instructor priorities. We will also meet people involved in their production\, and talk about how the materials evolved through the publication process. Our goals for the conversation are to celebrate and highlight two openly available resources and the people involved in creating and sharing them.
