SUMMARY:Open Educational Resources and (Generative) Artificial Intelligence: Potentials and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:In this online session\, we talk about the implications of (Generative) Artificial Intelligence for Open Educational Resources with a focus on the Higher Education sector. \nAs part of the project “KI-NEL-23-NRW“\, which is funded by the German Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education\, the state portal ORCA.nrw is organising various offers (e.g. information events\, workshops\, short videos\,) on the intersections of OER & (Generative) Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education until the end of March 2024. \nIn a short presentation\, we will give insights into the project and talk\, for example\, about the potential of Generative AI for OER or the associated challenges. \nFollowing the presentation\, we invite all participants to report on their own experiences\, describe the situation at their own institution or in their own country and contribute to the discussion. \nIn dieser Online-Session geht es um die Implikationen (Generativer) Künstlicher Intelligenz für Open Educational Resources mit Schwerpunkt auf dem Hochschulbereich. \nIm Rahmen des Projektes „KI-NEL-23-NRW“\, das von der Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre gefördert wird\, organisiert das Landesportal ORCA.nrw im Zeitraum bis Ende März 2024 verschiedene Angebote (z.B. Informationsveranstaltungen\, Workshops\, Kurzvideos\,) rund um das Thema OER & (Generative) Künstliche Intelligenz im Hochschulbereich. \nIn einer kurzen Präsentation geben wir Einblicke in das Projekt und sprechen z.B. über die Potenziale Generativer KI für OER oder die damit verbundenen Herausforderungen. \nIm Anschluss an die Präsentation laden wir alle Teilnehmenden ein\, über eigene Erfahrungen zu berichten\, die Situation an der eigenen Einrichtung oder im eigenen Land zu schildern und sich in die Diskussion einzubringen.

SUMMARY:Open Education as Anti-Fascism: Building Democratic Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Across the globe\, higher education is facing growing authoritarian\, exclusionary\, and anti-democratic tendencies\, not only in politics\, but also in digital infrastructures\, platform economies\, and dominant narratives about technology and innovation. At the same time\, Open Education is often framed primarily as a technical or economic solution\, i.e.\, more efficient content production\, wider access\, lower costs. \nIn this session\, we will discuss how openness can function as a form of democratic resilience in times of polarization and techno-fascism.
