The course presents a smart city concept and strategies and practices involved in shaping this living environment within the smart community concept. The introductory lecture implements a socio-technological perspective: treating contemporary cities as social machines, it defines the smart city and identifies non-social actors in the creation of the smart city concept. It also presents the city as a living laboratory – presenting the concept of the living lab and its significance for sociological research in the modern city. The course was developed at the Faculty of Humanities at the AGH University of Science and Technology.
