The rapid proliferation of communication technologies coupled with the highly dynamic labour market situation in emerging economies is creating important opportunities and needs for focused, flexible education. Business school education is, in contrast to advanced economies, growing rapidly in emerging economies. Here however, quality business school education has been relatively expensive and scarce, and only few business schools offer free ‘open’ online business education. In this webinar, a number of education leaders from business schools in key emerging markets – Yemen, Peru, Egypt, Azerbaijan – and MSM, the most international business school in the Netherlands with partners in a dozen emerging economies – discuss the need and opportunity, their own initiatives, but also the constraints and shortcomings of open online education. They will also refer to issues such OER and its impact on social development, MOOC and education, and increasing the diversity and quality of business education. The WEBINAR coincides with the launch of Maastricht School of Management’s own open online Mini MBA, made available freely to stimulate knowledge of management in emerging and developing economies.
