In this presentation Robin will examine some of the data around textbook costs and the efficacy of OERs as they impact student success, but she will also push past obvious cost-savings benefits to ask larger questions about how OERs, open licenses, and digital technologies that connect learners can be leveraged to develop open pedagogical practices that both empower learners to contribute to the knowledge commons and reinvigorate the mission of our institutions of higher education.
