Open Pedagogy 2: Attributes of Open Practice

←Back to list of resources

This video, Open Pedagogy 2: Attributes of Open Practice, is part 2 of a 3 part video series. The panel of teachers from Alberta continue their descriptions of, and recommendations for, the effective use of open educational resources in the classroom through the remaining four attributes of Bronwyn Hagerty’s open pedagogy model: sharing ideas and resources; learner-generated content; reflective practice; and peer review.

Furthering exploring Open Pedagogy and the interconnections among sharing and learner-generated content highlights how these attributes already exist in many classrooms. However, with OER as part of a teacher’s repertoire these remaining attributes become further highlighted and evolve OER beyond teacher sharing to a broader set of pedagogical decisions. Through the use of OER and participatory technologies teachers can inform and influence the ongoing development of digital citizenship skills and attitudes. The video highlights how OER is more than the resources but a set of teaching and learning practices.
