Teaching about migration

Teaching about migration model was developed as a joint effort of Europeana, Ministries of Education and Culture in Europe, and representatives of the cultural heritage and educational sectors during the Europeana strategy meeting in Malta in May 2017.

We used the topic of migration to look at what is needed by the educators from the cultural heritage institutions to help them teach with more resources and greater nuance. As a result, we identified six actions that relate to funding, resource gaps and the need for best practice guidelines, co-created search vocabularies, increased digitisation, more content made available for educational reuse, and the creation of learning resources and cohesive collaboration among all stakeholders.

These six actions represent a model that can be used in almost any subject area. The model builds on the Europeana for Education Recommendations resource published on the OE week 2017- to create better access to all types of material relating to migration, held in our Cultural Heritage Institutions.

Take a look at the model graphic below, explore Europeana Education to find out more about the implementation of these actions and share your thoughts and experiences on this topic in the Europeana Education Linkedin group (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13518332)!
