On the Occasion of Open Education Resources Week 2026
In celebration of Open Education Resources (OER) Week 2026, the Department of Information Science & Library Management (ISLM), KKBAU proudly presents “Knowledge Without Walls”—a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting open knowledge, digital scholarship, and equitable access to learning resources.
The program will officially launch the Open Education Resources Portal, a dedicated platform designed to support Information Science and Library Management students with curated open textbooks, research materials, repositories, and digital learning tools. This portal reflects the department’s commitment to fostering inclusive, technology-driven, and globally connected education.
The event will feature:
- Portal Launching Ceremony – Introduction of the ISLM OER Portal and its key features.
- Hands-on Training Session – Practical workshop on exploring and utilizing global OER platforms, open-access databases, and Creative Commons resources.
- OER Awareness Campaign on Campus – Interactive outreach activities to promote the philosophy of open knowledge among students and faculty.
- Quiz Competition on Open Knowledge & Information Literacy – Engaging academic competition to enhance awareness and critical understanding of OER concepts.
Through this initiative, the Department of ISLM seeks to empower future information professionals with the skills, mindset, and ethical foundation necessary to contribute to the global open knowledge movement. “Knowledge Without Walls” symbolizes the vision of breaking barriers in education and building a collaborative, accessible, and innovative learning ecosystem.
