Presented by the Canadian Coalition for Affordable Learning
With the recent decrease in international learners studying in Canada and with threats of trade wars and tariffs looming, the Canadian Coalition for Affordable Learning is presenting an exclusive workshop about accessible and affordable learning in postsecondary education.
On March 4 at 2pm EST, join Alexandra Marcaccio (Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries), Amanda Coolidge (BCcampus), Carley McDougall (Campus Manitoba), Clint Lalonde (BCcampus) and Robert Luke (eCampusOntario) to learn about the best practices in digital education, open education, and more. Together, we’ll discuss how we can provide learners with better access to postsecondary education during a time of economic uncertainty.
During times of economic recession people tend to go back to school, especially for programs oriented around skills. With the recent reduction in international education and with threats of trade wars and tariffs looming, a focus on accessible and affordable learning is even more important – to encourage more people to reskill and upskill, and to access learning when and how they need it. Accessible and affordable learning is about supporting digital by design education at scale by fostering inclusion in digital environments and offering options for learning that engage multiple modalities – face to face, hybrid, and online. Supporting open education and the use of Open Educational Resources is common among our organizations. These provide important low-cost learning resources for students, promoting access and engagement.
The workshop includes a panel discussion, a showcase of successful initiatives across Canada, and a facilitated group discussion. Discover how we can work together to create a more equitable and affordable educational landscape for students across Canada.
