The Multimedia and Instructional Design Team of the University of Hawai‘i Nancy-Atmospera School of Nursing conducted a mixed methods study using a 43-item student questionnaire to investigate student use, attitudes, and opinions of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) in higher education. While most students view Gen AI as a valuable tool to assist with coursework, many are still undecided whether using Gen AI to assist with coursework is acceptable.
Presenters will discuss how the study’s findings informed departmental practices and policies, and professional development workshops for faculty and staff in efforts to shape student attitudes and behaviors regarding Gen AI use in the classroom and broader professional settings.
