Augmenting OER with Open Source AI

Join LibreTexts Founder and Executive Director, Delmar Larsen, and Head of External Education Programs for Sandbox AQ, Marianna Bonanome as they discuss a new partnership to bring AI and OER together to help close the gender gap in the workforce.
This initiative is a collaborative effort to couple LibreTexts’ corpus (950,000 webpages of OER content) with emerging AI so that OER texts can be equipped with a customized open source AI tutor. Intellectual isolation is a particular problem for adult learners who, without close interactions with instructors and fellow students, can lose focus. The AI tutor system will provide guidance to LibreTexts’ learning materials for individual students based on individual needs expressed in natural language.
