CC Open Education Platform webinar: “Wikidata, OER, and Curriculum Alignment in Ghana, Uruguay and Italy”
March 5, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm GMT
Curious about Wikidata, OER, and curriculum alignment across national borders? Join the CC Open Education Platform for a Q&A discussion with guest speakers, Nat Hernández Clavijo and Sailesh Patnaik.
Nat and Sailesh will share the transformative potential of Wikidata in curriculum alignment through a review of Wikidata for Education, a project born in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana, in collaboration with UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition. The project aligned Wikipedia articles with school curricula, revolutionizing the way students access relevant information, and has since expanded to Uruguay and Italy.
Nat Hernández Clavijo is an IT and Open Data Analyst at Wikimedistas de Uruguay, navigating the expansive world of Wikimedia. After 8 years in IT, they know their way around backend and low-code development. They are also passionate about sexuality education and creative writing.
Sailesh Patnaik is a Senior Program Officer at the Wikimedia Foundation, specializing in the intersection of Education and Culture & Heritage. With a 12-year journey as a Wikimedian, he actively shapes the community engagement experience for Wikimedians in the Wikimedia movement through participation and collaborative learning. Beyond his work at Wikimedia, Sailesh has successfully influenced the Government of Odisha in India to share its resources openly using Creative Commons licenses.
