OE Week Live! March 5 Open Exchange on AI
Wed March 5, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm GMT

Open Education Week 2025 is happening this week and we are hosting a few of our OEWeek Live webcasts as informal conversations. For each show we invite a group of open educators willing to have a discussion that lacks an agenda and slides with bullet points.
There seems no end to the talk and sometimes yelling about Artificial Intelligence. So here’s more! This special show aims to bring some thoughtful exchanges from open educators who are willing to be part of a conversation that ideally avoids taking sides but share their experiences and perspectives, especially with regards for open education, bringing both critical and practical approaches.Â
Can we place ourselves on the Eh! Aye! Venn Diagram?

We cannot even come close to covering everything in an hour, but let’s see what happens. Guests for this conversation include:
- Jonathan Poritz (Independent Consultant in Open Education) with a few AI criticisms, see web site
- Amy Collier (Middlebury College) on the Demystifying AI Digital Detox
- Tom Woodward (Middlebury College) on the Demystifying AI Digital Detox and website posts on AI
-  Bryan Alexander (Futurist, Writer, Consultant) on AI in Higher Education, see AI, Academia, and the Future newsletter and web site
- Alegria Ribadeneira (Colorado State University – Pueblo) Open pedagogy and language instruction with AI, see web site
- Lance Eaton (College Unbound, author, speaker) on AI policies and supporting faculty, See Ai + Education = Simplified substack
- Liza Long (College of Western Idaho) on Teaching Writing with AI and researcher, author), see Artisanal Intelligence substack and Cyborgs and Centaurs: Academic Writing in the Age of Generative Artificial Intelligence open textbook
- Vidminas Vizgirda (PhD student, Institute of Language Cognition and Computation, University of Edinburgh) on What “open” AI in education means (or could mean)
