Opening Knowledge: Open Education at TRU — Impact, Innovation, and Community
Mon March 2, 2026 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm GMT

Join TRU Open Press and the Open Education Working Group (OEWG) for a special Open Education Week 2026 panel and showcase celebrating the impact of open education at Thompson Rivers University.
This interactive hybrid event will feature:
- A panel discussion with faculty, staff, and student contributors engaged in Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP)
- A showcase of selected TRU Open Press projects
- Audience Q&A and live engagement opportunities
Panelists will share their motivations, challenges, and successes in creating and adopting open resources, with a particular focus on:
- Student affordability
- Accessibility and inclusive pedagogy
- Collaboration across disciplines
- Reducing barriers to learning
Whether you are curious about OER, already engaged in open education, or interested in supporting equitable access to post-secondary learning, this session offers an opportunity to connect, reflect, and explore what openness looks like in practice at TRU.
This event is made possible in part through support from BCcampus as part of Open Education Week 2026. We gratefully acknowledge their leadership in advancing open education across British Columbia and their commitment to improving access, affordability, and inclusion in post-secondary education.
This event is open to all TRU faculty, staff, student, and administrators. Let’s celebrate Open Education Week together and explore how open education strengthens our community.
