Open Metadata Exchange: Enabling OER Access Across Libraries
Wed March 4, 2026 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm GMT

The Open Metadata Exchange (OME) is a decentralized network that enables open education libraries to share and discover openly licensed resources and metadata across institutions while maintaining local control.
By connecting platforms through a shared, flexible infrastructure, OME helps reduce duplicated curatorial effort, bridge metadata gaps, and make high-quality Open Educational Resources more discoverable.
In this session, we will introduce
- The OME model
- Demonstrate how participating libraries connect and exchange metadata
- Discuss how a community-governed, decentralized approach can strengthen collaboration across the open education ecosystem.
