The Future of OER in the AI Age
Fri March 6, 2026 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm GMT

For many years, Open Educational Resources have offered instructors the ability to create, share, curate, and customize teaching materials to better meet their needs and those of their students. Now, with the widespread availability, increasing ease of use, and improving outputs of AI tools, instructors also have the ability to remix those high-quality resources and even create new materials derived from them.
This session from the University of Chicago brings together two experts in OER and AI in education to discuss the functional, ethical, and pedagogical considerations that relate to this work:
- Lawrence Davis, Professor of History at North Shore Community College, creator of open educational resources and facilitator of OER and AI training at NSCC and EDUCAUSE.
- Delmar Larsen, Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis, and founder of LibreTexts.
