On Tuesday, March 3rd, Affordable Learning Kentucky invites you to a full day of sessions designed to move beyond theory and into the practical “how-to” of open education. Whether you’re a seasoned OER creator or just curious about how to save your students money, there is something here for you.
Symposium Schedule (All times in EST)
- 9:30 am | Welcome & Kickoff We’ll start the day by setting the stage for the state of affordable learning in Kentucky.
- 10:00 am | When You Can’t Find What You Need: Building a Text to Serve Your Students Learn how to bridge the gap when existing resources fall short by creating custom materials tailored to your specific course goals.
- 11:00 am | OER Publishing Platform Round Robin A fast-paced look at the various tools available for hosting and sharing OER. Find the right home for your content!
- 1:00 pm | A Beginner’s Guide to Open Science Pedagogy Discover how the principles of Open Science can be seamlessly integrated into your teaching to foster transparency and collaboration.
- 2:00 pm | OER that Works: OER for KY’s 10 Essential Skills A creative look at how to use open resources to intentionally build workforce readiness and “essential skills” directly into your curriculum.
- 3:00 pm | Kentucky’s Student Survey on Textbook Costs Get the first look at the latest data regarding how textbook prices are impacting Kentucky students and what we can do about it.
