Open Scholarship on AI, Education, and Society: An Open Call for Guest Contributors — Society & AI

Society & AI is an emerging open publication dedicated to the critical examination of how artificial intelligence shapes, and is shaped by, educational systems, social structures, and human flourishing. Founded at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Society & AI is currently in active development, building a community of contributors, readers, and thinkers around questions that sit at the intersection of AI, education, and society.
During Open Education Week 2026, we are opening our platform to guest contributors. We are inviting educators, researchers, and practitioners to submit short-form open writing including opinion pieces, personal perspectives, critical commentaries, and reflections on topics related to AI, education, and its effects on people and communities. There are no article processing charges. All guest posts are published openly and freely accessible to anyone.
The discourse around AI in education is expanding at an unprecedented pace, yet much of it stays locked in proprietary channels, commercial reports, or social media threads that disappear. Society & AI wants to give those ideas a more permanent, open home. We are particularly interested in voices that foreground equity, critical pedagogy, multilingual learners, and the everyday lived experiences of educators and students navigating AI-mediated environments. We are not looking for AI success stories or product endorsements. We are looking for honest, thoughtful writing from people who are paying close attention. If you have something to say about AI and education, and you have been waiting for the right place to say it–this is an open invitation.
