OEWeek launches March 2-6, 2026*

*and supports events scheduled and open assets shared February 1 -April 30

Think of Open Education Week as the global town square (or agora, souq, bazaar, etc) to gather to meet, celebrate and exchange Open Education resources and practices. OEWeek 2026 is “officially” launched by Open Education Global March 2-6, but we collect and share events, in-person or online, occurring between February 1 and the end of April– we will display your OEWeek activities no matter when they occur.

What happens during OEWeek? Look back at Open Education Week 2025 when the community contributed 310 online and in-person events to the OEWeek 2025 calendar. Collectively we curated 81 assets in OER Commons, added 48 pins to the OER World Map, and shared 22 resources in OEG Connect. For more details, see the 2025 summary video.

Think of Open Education Week as a place to meet, learn, discuss, share in one global public square.

Mar 2-6 – OEGlobal Launches OEWeek 2026

Over the years, the open education community in 42 countries has hosted 2,655 events and shared 1,127 Open Education assets. Open Education Week has included 117,620 engaged participants from 162 countries.

An annual celebration, Open Education Week (OE Week) is an opportunity for actively sharing and learning about the latest achievements in Open Education worldwide.
